Welcome to the WPTA!
Welcome,
we are the Western Pennsylvania Triumph Association; a club dedicated
the preservation, restoration, and enjoyment of all Triumph Sports Cars.
Thanks for stopping by our web site. You are invited to view all our
public pages to get a flavor for our club and our membership, and if you
are interested, a
downloadable membership application is available. First however, let
me give you some background on the WPTA, who we are, and what we do.
It started in September of 1977 with founding members Ed Woods and Ed
Major placing a simple ad in the Pittsburgh Press newspaper looking for
people interested in sharing their enthusiasm for Triumph TR2 and TR3
Sports Cars. From that simple beginning, the club has grown to over 200
members, translating into over 300 cars, since many members can't own
just one Triumph. We welcome all Triumph models from the earliest
roadster to the last TR8.
Our group is very active. Each month we publish our newsletter, the Dzus
Dnuz, pronounced zoos nuz, which if not informative is at least
entertaining. Also, throughout the year we have a mix of Triumph related
events, some social, others driving, but all centered on the cars. Our
social gatherings include seasonal events and
monthly meetings to
exchange ideas and foster camaraderie. Our driving events are member
hosted fun rallies to enjoy the cars and the company of friends. Also,
each spring there is a Tune-Up Clinic to help members keep their cars in
driving condition. Lastly, since 1980 we have produced "British Car Day"
(see pictures and
winners) an all British Car Show. Originally, "British Car Day" was held at
Allegheny County's Hartwood Acres, but from 1986 we have held it in
conjunction with the
Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix Races. Each year in
mid July, "British Car Day" and the Vintage Grand Prix Races are held in
scenic
Schenley Park in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
If all this sounds appealing to you let me invite you to consider a
membership in the Western Pennsylvania Triumph Association. Please
download our membership application, fill out the blanks and mail it
in along with your check. If you are interested in hearing more about
our club, or have a comment about our web site, please feel free to
email me a note.
Hope to see you soon at a WPTA meeting or event, and thanks for stopping
by.
Don Harkus
President
Western Pennsylvania Triumph Association
The foremost interest and focus of our
club is the Triumph Sports Car, however you don't have to own a Triumph
to join. All British car enthusiasts are encouraged to join the Western
Pennsylvania Triumph Association. Annual dues are $25 for a family
membership, which includes children up to 19 years of age. The dues
monies are used to offset club expenses, primarily the publication,
printing and distribution costs of the Dzus Dnuz, our monthly
newsletter. Some of the incidental expenses of our social and driving
events are also funded with dues dollars. For your annual $20
investment, you'll receive a monthly issue of Dzus Dnuz, have access to
all sections of the club web site, and be entitled and encouraged to
attend the many WPTA club functions. Most importantly, you'll help to
support the continued restoration and preservation of the Triumph Marque,
a primary goal of the Western Pennsylvania Triumph Association and it's
affiliated organizations.
If you want to become a member, simply download a membership application
and fill it out. Include a $25 check made payable to WPTA and mail it
to:
